Join EHRA (Elephant-Human Relations Aid) on a meaningful conservation mission in Damaraland. This hands-on volunteer program lets you work alongside dedicated conservationists, build vital water infrastructure for rural communities, and track elephants in the wild.
Arrive in the charming coastal town of Swakopmund and make your way to EHRA’s volunteer house. Meet your team, settle in, and join an orientation session to prepare for the weeks ahead.
Accommodation: EHRA Volunteer House in Swakopmund (shared rooms).
Meals: All meals during the program (volunteers help with cooking).
Activities: Conservation building work, elephant tracking, wildlife observation.
Travel to a rural community in the Kunene Region and set up camp. Spend the week working with locals to construct water points that help reduce conflict between elephants and people. Work is physical but incredibly rewarding, with plenty of breaks to enjoy the stunning desert scenery.

Meals: All meals during the program (volunteers help with cooking).

Head into the wilderness with EHRA’s trackers to find and monitor desert elephants. Learn how to identify individuals, record their movements, and understand their behaviour. Camping in the bush means waking to the sounds of nature and falling asleep under endless stars.

Travel back to EHRA base camp, enjoy a farewell meal with your group, and reflect on your unforgettable two weeks before departing the next day.

Good physical fitness is recommended as the work is hands-on.
